Machinist

A Machinist in an oil field is responsible for operating and maintaining machines used in the exploration, extraction, and
transportation of oil and gas. Here are the job responsibilities and requirements:

Job Responsibilities:

1. Operate and maintain machines such as lathes, mills, and drill presses to create metal components.
2. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to determine machine settings and tooling requirements.
3. Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers and gauges to ensure accuracy of machined components.
4. Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
5. Maintain accurate records of machining activities, including material usage records.
6. Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
7. Repair or modify existing metal structures and equipment as needed.
8. Collaborate with engineers and other team members to develop new designs and solutions to machining problems.

Job Requirements:

1. Diploma or equivalent.
2. Technical or vocational training in machining or a related field preferred.
3. At least 3 years of experience in machining in the oil and gas industry.
4. Knowledge of machining techniques and materials commonly used in the oil and gas industry.
5. Understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to machining.
6. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
7. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
9. Familiar with oil and gas field safety risks, and have participated in corresponding safety training.
